The project was born from the need for a profound reflection on the intrinsic values ​​of the works belonging to the Interno Bizantino, the nucleus of widely historicised creations. In fact, the images, chosen on enlarged details of creations inspired by Ravenna and Constantinople, constitute the foundations of a new and original iconographic reading. If the works of the Interno Bizantino evolve from precise historical and cultural sources, Oltre‘s creations free themselves from these artistic sources and attest to an absolute and tangible freedom of perception and action.
The project consists of pictorial-mosaic canvases elaborated on a photographic basis in which painting, sign and mosaic are conjugated, in an evident aesthetic language, with expressionist perceptions. The result is, therefore, a very modern art, which expands into the mosaic “elsewhere”, projecting beyond modernity.
